I had the opportunity to attend and cover rapper Kidd Flash’s album release party for his debut project, Ya’ll Gon’ Kno’!
Held on August 13, 2015 at Kabin Lounge in Washington, D.C., the event featured an Artist Talk with Kidd Flash hosted by journalist Gia Peppers, as well as performances by the artist himself!
Kidd Flash is actually the son of singer Ginuwine, and has inherited his father’s love and passion for music, although he leans toward the hip hop side. The young rapper definitely has potential to make a name for himself in the industry.
Today on The Spotlight, we have pop-R&B singer Kendra J! Kendra began singing at the age of five when she sang karaoke for the first time. Around the age of seven, she began singing on the children’s choir at church. “I knew music was something I wanted to pursue in elementary school,” Kendra admitted. “I loved singing for different ceremonies and assemblies. It made me so happy and I knew then because of the feeling of completion and peace that I experienced in those times that singing was what I wanted to do.”
This summer has been too much fun, filled with trips, concerts, and great events! Best summer I’ve had in a long time! Last week, I went to the Phi Beta Sigma Step Show, as the fraternity celebrated their 100th anniversary in DC (Congrats to them!!!). My best friend Chelsey and her sorority sister Joyti are a part of Zeta Phi Beta, which are sisters to the Sigmas, so they went out to support them throughout the week. Last Thursday, though, the Sigmas hosted a step show with several chapters battling it out for first place! After the step show, there was a concert by the one and only Wale! Now, if you’ve followed me long enough, you know I’m a HUGE fan of Wale (see this concert, andthis concert)! It had been a few years since I saw him live, so, even though I was going to support my friends as they supported their brothers’ celebration, I was mostly going to see my favorite rapper (was rocking my #Ambition tshirt and everything!).
