#NowListeningto the @LIONBABE EP

Written by PresidentELLA Stumbled across Lion Babe at a free Common concert & I really enjoyed her tunes. She was nothing but girl power on stage and left me wanting for more. Or maybe that was the sensuality? Or the hair?!?! Either way, take a listen while I do & let me know your thoughts!  HopeContinue reading “#NowListeningto the @LIONBABE EP”

R&B/pop singer, Yoji, was raised in London with a family of artists. With the support of her family, Yoji began learning how to play piano at the age of 8, but was trying her hand at song writing even before that. “I used to write songs in the playground with my friend and then perform them to everyone in a big showcase,” she said. “They didn’t really make any sense looking back but it was the best part of my day making music in the breaks.”

Today, we have singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Kinney! Hailing from Annapolis, MD (DMV heyyy!), she spent a lot of time outside along the Chesapeake Bay, camping, sailing and playing. However, Kinney also has been performing her entire life. She started out as an acrobatic dancer, and went onto musical theater afterwards. She wrote poetry and music as well, but kept quiet about it for a long time. “It wasn’t until I was in a rock and roll show in Las Vegas with a bunch of incredible rock musicians from some iconic bands of the 70’s and 80’s that I made the decision to dive in deep and really give music a go,” Kinney said. “I was surrounded by people who had lived and breathed music their entire lives and I realized there is nothing else I could do that would fill my spirit in the same way.” Calling music a “universal language,” Kinney plans to use her music to bring about positive change!

Today, we have London-based, Bermudan singer/songwriter Bassette! She began singing at the age of 11, after she received a karaoke machine as a Christmas gift. “It was one where we could record ourselves singing to different backings,” the singer reminisced. “That was the first time I really heard myself singing, and the first time anyone else really heard me singing, also.” Bassette began making cover videos on YouTube at around 14, and got great feedback from viewers, encouraging her to pursue music as a career, using her gifts of singing and writing. “I fail at a lot of things, but singing and writing are just something that I am addicted to, and I’m pretty good at [them],” Bassette stated.

Producer/Songwriter: @MellowDramus

Written by ELLA  I’ve got this beat from Mellow Dramus I’m working on and I couldn’t be more excited. First and foremost, the instrumental is so fire, I can’t even give you a sample 🙂       Secondly, Mellow’s a chick. I’ve been looking for original beats for a long time (and it’ll continue to take me aContinue reading “Producer/Songwriter: @MellowDramus”

Singer/Songwriter: Celleste

Another spotlight for you all! Music keeps coming in, and I’m loving it! As always, if you are or you represent an upcoming musician, singer, rapper, designer, poet, etc., please feel free to email me for a feature on the blog!

Today, we have Canadian singer-songwriter Celleste! The singer, the youngest of four, grew up in a musical household. Her own dad was a musician, and that opened her ears to a lot of great music! “My brother introduced me to classic rock, my sisters helped me discover bubblegum pop, and my dad had me listening to country music. Quite the mix!” Celleste said. She’s a big fan of Led Zeppelin, but also pop stars like Madonna, Lady Gaga, P!nk, and Justin Timberlake. The 30s and 40s eras of music are seeming to pop up more in her music these days, she stated. “I’ve always loved the feeling I get when I listen to singers like Ella Fitzgerald and Peggy Lee,” Celleste said. “So even though I’m writing pop-rock, those flavors seem to be showing up more and more.” Definitely an eclectic taste!
