I’m incredibly impressed with Ragz & his EP. He’s the main inspiration for a lot of the people back home, myself included. He’s put me onto engineers and has done an amazing job networking. I love the way his voice has evolved over time — I have to admit I find courage in his strength to rhyme & sing with such ease & talent. Additionally, his promo game has truly stepped up on this project.

Neo-soul and R&B artist, K. James, whose music video for track “Koolin’ ” was recently featured on the site, has always had a great appreciation for good music with a message, containing real experiences. “Music has always been in my blood,” K. James said. “Since I was 5 years old, I grew up listening to my mother’s radio full of artists such as Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder, Teddy Pendergrass, R. Kelly, and The Temptations.” He went on to add, “It has been a dream of mine to express my creativity through song, giving people something to relate to and making a living while doing something I love was all the motivation I needed to pursue this dream of mine.”

I first saw Daniel Caesar in the sky. His massive, solo billboard by 14th street in NYC is awe striking. I wasn’t expecting to see a handsome brother up so high as soon as I came off of the train, but here he was. That’s a sad joke, but I do love to support brown faces in music (judge me). Since I had never heard of Daniel, and he has such a beautiful name, I decided to type him into my Apple and am very happy with the findings. I’ve been waiting on some good R&B.
#NowListeningto the @LIONBABE EP
Written by PresidentELLA Stumbled across Lion Babe at a free Common concert & I really enjoyed her tunes. She was nothing but girl power on stage and left me wanting for more. Or maybe that was the sensuality? Or the hair?!?! Either way, take a listen while I do & let me know your thoughts! HopeContinue reading “#NowListeningto the @LIONBABE EP”
Singer/Songwriter: @YojiMusic
Written by Brittany Shawnté
R&B/pop singer, Yoji, was raised in London with a family of artists. With the support of her family, Yoji began learning how to play piano at the age of 8, but was trying her hand at song writing even before that. “I used to write songs in the playground with my friend and then perform them to everyone in a big showcase,” she said. “They didn’t really make any sense looking back but it was the best part of my day making music in the breaks.”
Pop and R&B Singer: @IamJulianeMusic

Juliane realized that music was what she wanted to do with her life after a label approached her with a deal when she was 15. “Unfortunately, I had to refuse their offer but I knew I was made for music and that waiting for the right team would pay off.” And it did! In October 2015, Juliane dropped her debut, self-titled EP, which she says is the introduction of who she is as an artists and a person to the world! “These are the sounds I love and create and this is who I am as a person. Sweet and friendly, a dreamer, but a real go-getter and not afraid to fight for what I want and believe,” she said.
Alternative Singer & Songwriter: @IamKinney / @KinneyMusic
Written by Brittany Shawnté
Today, we have singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Kinney! Hailing from Annapolis, MD (DMV heyyy!), she spent a lot of time outside along the Chesapeake Bay, camping, sailing and playing. However, Kinney also has been performing her entire life. She started out as an acrobatic dancer, and went onto musical theater afterwards. She wrote poetry and music as well, but kept quiet about it for a long time. “It wasn’t until I was in a rock and roll show in Las Vegas with a bunch of incredible rock musicians from some iconic bands of the 70’s and 80’s that I made the decision to dive in deep and really give music a go,” Kinney said. “I was surrounded by people who had lived and breathed music their entire lives and I realized there is nothing else I could do that would fill my spirit in the same way.” Calling music a “universal language,” Kinney plans to use her music to bring about positive change!

Singer/Songwriter: @Kristinia DeBarge
Written by Brittany Shawnté
Today, we have singer/songwriter, actress, AND model, Kristinia DeBarge! The star opened up to us about her start in music as a part of the famous DeBarge clan, her own aspirations for her career, and her new upcoming show on weTV, Growing Up Hip Hop!
Growing up as a part of the famous DeBarge family R&B lineage, Kristinia noted that there is “never a dull moment” with her family. “My family, they’re not only talented, but they’re very funny, awesome great human beings,” she said. Having that strong background in music, Kristinia knew that she wanted to sing at the young age of 3, and began taking her craft seriously at 12. “I kind of hid it from my dad [James DeBarge],” she laughed, not telling him that she had that talent and passion for singing until that time. “He was like, ‘Oh my gosh! All right, let’s get you in the studio!'” They stayed up until 4:30 in the morning writing and recording the song, and Kristinia was committed to the process even at that age. “He was kind of testing me to see how bad I really wanted to do it,” she stated. Clearly she proved herself!
