How My World Came Crashing Down in Miami đŸ‘żđŸŒŽ

You know that feeling when everything that could possibly goes wrong happens exactly how it would if your enemy were writing your life story? Yea, well… that’s exactly how Miami’s Art Basel weekend went for me. Tiffany Haddish has this joke about how the devil lives in Miami & I’m telling y’all she’s right because he stole my phone. Let me tell you the story…

“Know Your Intentions” and more #Wordsof Wisdom from @TylerPerry

I needed these Words of Wisdom from Tyler Perry. I hope they motivate you too on the path towards reaching your dreams.

Of course, Tyler’s journey to success was no easy feat. He was homeless for a while, struggling financially, and his first play was a flop. Yet and still, he KNEW that creating plays and movies was ultimately what he was supposed to be doing. That was his foundation. Knowing that he was meant to do more ultimately kept him going. “What you were building had to be strong enough to support the weight of whatever you could dream,” he shared in a graduation speech. That kept him going when he was climbing the ladder to success, and still keeps him going in spite of naysayers and rough times now.

B Better, Not Bitter

Written by Brittany Shawnté

Now this isn’t me trying to preach to y’all or anything, but it was a message that stuck with me. In that moment, I realized just how much I relate to her. We all can, religious or not, because we often let the circumstances of our lives blind us. Particularly, we can let our rejection and losses tear us up, forgetting that the story doesn’t end here and that we are built to WIN. In a lot of cases, we become bitter because our lives aren’t where we think they should be.

Dance Studio for the Handicapped Community

I read this story and it really touched my heart and inspired me. A woman, inspired by her own paralysis, created a dance studio that puts dancers in wheelchairs in the spotlight!

“Curate Your Own Life” Motivational Talk with @LadyGaga

Back in 2015, Lady Gaga spoke to students at Yale at the Emotion Revolution Summit. While vulnerably opening up about her own depression in the midst of her success, and how she now chooses to look after her own well-being and “curate her own life,” rather than just following what other people think.

“Hard Work Pays Off.” – Motivational Speech by @KevinHart4Real

Kevin Hart is definitely a dude that I’m inspired by, simply because he works his tail off to get to where he wants to be and to STAY THERE.

@TheDanieB’s Inspirational Letter to Her 15-Year-Old Self

Written by Brittany Shawnté

I’m really in love with Orange is the New Black‘s Danielle Brooks (who plays Taystee on the show). From the first time I saw her, I immediately connected to her. One, she was dark chocolate and cornbread fed like me, and seemed so confident in herself and what she had to offer. That inspired me to do the same. Two, she’s so incredibly talented, not only as an actress but a singer too! Three, she stands up for various causes, and encourages other women to love themselves.
