Why I Started Making my Own Legging Sets

This pink set was the first legging set I made, using the same fabric I used in the Pretty in Pink Pencil Skirt set. The idea was to be able to wear the long sleeve top with the pencil skirt, or the tank with the leggings. I think the slight shimmer of the fabric allows it to transition well into a more “dressed up” look once paired with accessories or the right shoes. I definitely don’t work out in this stuff, but I suppose I could 🤷🏽‍♀️ The patterns are based on my favorite pieces of workout clothing. I love the fit of Victoria Secret’s high-waisted leggings but was tired of paying $75 for each pair. I also have an Under Armour compression top I love so the cuts in the top are constructed to provide a tight fit.

Do you Want Someone to Complete You or Compliment You?

What I prefer is a compliment; unexpected additions to my life that somehow make it better than I imagined. Sometimes, you don’t know what you’re looking for until it’s given to you. Sometimes, there is just something missing or “off” and it’s difficult, if not impossible to pinpoint exactly why this relationship isn’t working. While I knew I wanted to be supported in my dreams, I didn’t understand how or how much. People love to talk that “my other half” and “50/50” talk but, to me, that just sounds like I’m missing something. Am I missing half of me? Would I only be half of myself without another person?

Mao by Andy Warhol (1972)

Apparently, Andy found it interesting that the only images he saw coming out of China were those of Mao. With this, he decided to add his flair to popular image. Similarly to his Campbell’s Soup Can images, Andy meant to comment on mass production and consumerism. From an American lens, I can see how interesting it is to think that capitalism might not be a preferred way of life in other countries, but marketing is marketing. These images of Mao are what the people were being fed. Was is because they believed in Mao? Or because it seemed to be their online option, with his photo plastered everywhere they turned?

Where to Stay: Philly Weekend Getaway

The AirBNB in Philly was between University City and West Philadelphia. It was perfectly located to hit the cheesesteaks we wanted to taste test over the weekend. The spot itself was super cute. The building is painted a fun purple color, although we barely used the front door. Honestly, the best part of the AirBNB was that there was a dedicated parking spot in the back, inside a gate.

Children of Blood and Bone by @tomi_adeyemi

Children of Blood and Bone is the first of a trilogy, which takes place in a mystical version of Africa. While some places are make believe, like Orïsha, there are certainly real places mentioned like Lagos. Ancient Gods and Goddesses from the Yoruba religion play a major part of the backbone of the storyline as they guide the main character, Zélie Adebola, embarks on a destined mission to bring magic back to her people.

Where to Stay in Puerto Rico: Hato Rey

For the second part of my Puerto Rico trip, I stayed at a place in Hato Rey with a beautiful rooftop. While I loved the beaches, having a private pool was something I couldn’t pass up!

Flyboarding – Loquillo, PR

I think I was flying around for about 30 minutes; it felt like a really long time, even though it took me forever to stand up straight. He also took tons of photos and videos of me which I received in a few days. The photos were included, which is a great plus and truly earned them the tip I left. If ever I get the chance, I’ll definitely do this again, it was such an exhilarating experience and I felt it in my entire body afterwards. I’m always up for a new water sport!

Breakfast at Pannes in Puerto Rico

I ordered the “Popeye’s Scramble” which was basically their version of a Greek Omelete. It’s was actually a pretty big serving for only $8.99. I also has bacon 🥓 & bread 🥖 but I don’t remember if it came with the meal or was separate, sorry 🙁 of course, I had lattes at the beginning and end of my meal — the coffee was great, as expected.

Puerto Rico: Where to Stay – Ashford Ave

The first place I stayed in Puerto Rico was absolutely ideal. The Air BnB apartment was right on Ashford Ave, the main street on the island, parallel to the beach. The beach was literally across the street the street from me. From my balcony, I could see the waves through a perfectly positioned opening between the buildings across the street. From the back entrance, I had an amazing view of the Condado lagoon.

Flying Solo: The Final Break-Up that Sent me on a Solo Trip to P.R.

I can’t remember the last thing he “did” for me. He liked to say that our trip to Jamaica in July last year was my “best vacation” ever because it was all-inclusive and he barely had to plan anything… I know he’s wrong because I loved Cuba more (& I went with my mom). We had gotten into arguments on the flight to and from paradise and I can’t tell you why I hung on… trying to make it to 3 years; wasting my precious time.
