Celebrated Black history month, appropriately by touching the mic for ArticulateNYC’s “HER”story open mic, which focused on celebrating women of color. I was more than honored to bring Tunisia on stage at The Nest with me, for the first song I’ve actually created with someone — and a woman at that! ArticulateNYC’s founder, Anya, is also a woman and that just made it all sweeter.

I hadn’t been asked to feature in a while, but Anya certainly lit the match. She blessed me with a gracious 20 minutes to do my thing. Tunisia and I had one other show before we hit The Nest, and we couldn’t have been more grateful for the vibes and the turn out. She and I are honestly, just friends and I found out she could sing. I’m so happy she vibed with the song and it sounded so well. (Listen to “FIRE” in the video. You can skip to ) Not only was The Nest nice (it had a full restaurant + lounge area upstairs and a full bar downstairs) but it was packed & the room was incredibly warm and welcoming; Tunisia and I stayed until the very end because I ran into and old friend from Werds Of Art Photography taking photos of the event.

It’s always amazing to realize how small the world is. A little bit of work can go a long way. i am incredibly grateful to Anya and ArticulateNYC for allowing me the stage and the space. Good vibes are priceless; I met Vannah Oshun that night and she’s been a ray of sunshine on my timeline. She was hosting the event and rightfully so — her energy is right for entertainment. People like her encourage me to encourage others and to surround myself with other creatives.

This was one of the shows you leave feeling better about yourself… like it’s worth it.

Thank you, all ❤
