The Smith Bar Steak ($29)
Written by PresidentElla
For my New Yorkers, The Smith is a great restaurant by Lincoln Center serving actual dinner until 1am on weeknights! While New York “never sleeps”, after about 11pm, your food choices really start to dwindle to burgers, hot dogs and pizza after 11pm. I often work late or get a late start on my night… by the time I get somewhere for dinner, the kitchen is closing. Not only is The Smith open when I need it to be, but they have exactly what I need them to have.
Best part of the meal was the service. The team at the front attended to is immediately and sat us at the table of our choice. We had left a spot across the street because they wouldn’t seat us side-by-side. Forgive me, but I had going on a dinner date with my boyfriend and sitting across the table for him with my client. Our waitress greeted us promptly with a genuine smile and checked in with us at just the right times, so we never felt rushed nor abandoned.
There’s everything on the menu from burgers to steak. The appetizer, calamari ($15), were flavorful, but next time, I’ll have to ask they put my marinara sauce on the side. I’m a dipping kinda girl & hate soggy food. The Smith Bar Steak ($29) was cooked perfectly and comes with a side of fries or a mixed greens salad. I opted for the salad and added a side of the smashed garlic potatoes ($8). Bae got the surprisingly moist Brick Pressed Chicken ($25), which was served on top of garlic potatoes and spinach. For cocktails, he had his customary Moscow Mule and I had a Roll in the Hay, which was pretty strong (both $14.50). I think I’ll try a punch next time 😉
I had a lovely time at The Smith & I’m sure to be back.
